Intrepid Travel has introduced a new series of destination guidebooks, called Intrepid Guides. The collection, which focuses on immersive travel experiences, will be available online and in major bookstores starting April 15.
The debut of Intrepid Guides includes three books, each focused on a different destination: Australia, Japan, and Iceland. Guides for Vietnam and Italy are also in development, with more destinations expected in the future.
Unlike traditional guidebooks, these new guides focus on experiences rather than specific locations. Written by local experts, including Intrepid’s own tour leaders, the books aim to provide travelers with deeper insights into each destination. Chapters include themes like “Nature,” “Festivals,” and “Slow Travel,” allowing readers to engage with a place more consciously and authentically.
“Intrepid Guides are for those who seek to explore the world meaningfully, not just tick off places from a list. These books help make travel more personal, powerful, and responsible,” said Leigh Barnes, Intrepid’s President of the Americas.
The launch of Intrepid Guides follows the success of The Intrepid List, a hardcover collection of 100 global travel stories. According to Barnes, the guides are perfect for solo travelers, slow travelers, foodies, and culture enthusiasts alike, positioning the series as the new essential travel companion.
