China Issues Dual Travel Warnings for the U.S. Amid Rising Tensions

by Mary

The Chinese government has issued two travel advisories for the United States, citing growing tensions in diplomatic relations.

The Ministry of Culture and Tourism advised Chinese citizens to carefully consider the risks of traveling to the U.S., pointing to worsening economic and trade relations between the two countries, as well as concerns over domestic security.

In a separate advisory, China’s Ministry of Education warned students about an Ohio state bill that could limit educational exchanges between Chinese and American universities. The bill, which has already passed the lower house of Ohio’s legislature, includes measures aimed at reducing “foreign influence,” with a specific reference to China.

The legislation, primarily focused on diversity and inclusion, also targets Chinese influence in U.S. educational institutions.

Additionally, a proposal from Republican lawmakers in March seeks to prevent Chinese citizens from obtaining student visas altogether. If passed, the bill would affect all Chinese students, regardless of their field of study or level of education.
