Boarding passes and the traditional check-in process could soon be a thing of the past, replaced by facial recognition technology and a “journey pass” stored on passengers’ smartphones.
These changes are part of a major overhaul in the aviation industry aimed at digitising air travel. The International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), a UN body that sets global airline policies, is working to implement these innovations by introducing a “digital travel credential.”
This new approach promises to simplify the travel process, making it faster and more secure for passengers.
