The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, in collaboration with the Korea Tourism Organization and the Korea Tourism Association, has announced the launch of the “Open Travel Week,” running from April 14 to April 20. This initiative aims to provide accessible travel opportunities for vulnerable groups and raise awareness about barrier-free tourism.
During this week, the Ministry will introduce a special “open travel” program priced at 30,000 won, designed for individuals who face challenges in traveling due to mobility or accessibility issues. The program will include vehicles equipped with wheelchair lifts, along with professional support staff called “Tour Care” to assist participants.
Additionally, a “sharing trip” will be organized for 200 individuals with physical, visual, and developmental disabilities, offering a shared travel experience to further promote inclusivity in tourism.
An “Open Travel Promotion” will also run, providing discounts on admission fees and experience charges. A total of 17 participating corporations and institutions, including national tourist sites and local dining and shopping venues, will offer tailored benefits to help ensure that vulnerable groups can fully enjoy their travel experiences.
This initiative aims to make tourism more inclusive and accessible, fostering greater awareness and participation in barrier-free travel.
