Atlanta, GA – Delta Air Lines is enhancing its winter travel schedule with new flights connecting the U.S. to several Mexican destinations, including Manzanillo, Mexico City, and Monterrey. This expansion aims to meet the increasing demand for travel to Mexico, offering more options for leisure and business travelers.
Starting January 11, Delta will launch inaugural flights from Detroit to Tulum (TQO), marking the airline’s first service to this popular destination. Tulum, renowned for its pristine beaches, ancient Mayan ruins, and vibrant cultural scene, is expected to attract a wide range of tourists.
“Month after month, our customers are showing us one thing: They want to get out and see the world,” said Joe Esposito, Delta’s Senior Vice President of Network Planning. “Mexico is one of our most popular destinations for U.S. customers. That’s why we’re adding four new destinations in Mexico this year, giving our customers even more ways to experience Latin America’s rich cultural heritage.”
Throughout the winter season, Delta will operate up to 50 weekly departures from Detroit to five Mexican destinations, including Cancun, Cabo San Lucas, Mexico City, and Puerto Vallarta. The new Tulum service will include 10 weekly flights, with four flights on Saturdays.
Starting December 21, Delta will also begin flights from Los Angeles to Mazatlán (MZT), increasing its flight capacity to Mexico from LAX by 13% this year. Mazatlán, known for its charming Malecón, historic architecture, and sun-kissed beaches, offers travelers a rich blend of cultural exploration and aquatic adventures.
Delta and its partners continue to be the leading international carriers from LAX, scheduling 32 peak-day international flights. The addition of Mazatlán marks the 20th international route from this hub.
In collaboration with Aeromexico, additional new routes will be introduced. Starting November 2, Aeromexico will launch flights from Atlanta to Manzanillo, followed by a Los Angeles to Manzanillo service on December 21. Manzanillo, celebrated for its scenic coastlines and lush tropical landscapes, offers a mix of tranquility and excitement.
Aeromexico will also commence a daily service between Newark, New Jersey, and Mexico City from October 27, increasing to five daily flights between these major cities. On December 21, Aeromexico will start a new service connecting Denver to Monterrey (MTY), a significant industrial and commercial hub in Mexico.
Delta’s new routes to Tulum and Mazatlán will operate on Saturdays using Boeing 737-800 and Airbus 319 aircraft, offering First Class, Delta Comfort+, and Main Cabin options. First Class passengers will enjoy chef-designed meals and complimentary premium beverages, while Delta Comfort+ guests will receive additional amenities and complimentary drinks. All passengers will benefit from over 1,000 hours of free premium entertainment on Delta Studio, in-seat power, and complimentary high-speed Wi-Fi for Delta SkyMiles members.
This strategic expansion aims to provide U.S. travelers with more access to Mexico’s diverse and culturally rich destinations, reinforcing Delta and Aeromexico’s commitment to enhancing travel experiences in the region.
