In a significant move towards regional reconnection, SyrianAir has resumed direct commercial flights to the United Arab Emirates (UAE), with the first flight from Damascus landing in Dubai on April 20. This marks the revival of air links that have been suspended for several years, providing renewed access between the two nations.
As part of a broader strategy to rebuild its international presence, SyrianAir has launched a flight schedule between Damascus and Dubai, operating four times a week—on Saturdays, Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. Due to high passenger demand, daily flights are expected to follow shortly. In addition, the airline is reintroducing flights to other major UAE hubs: Sharjah will see three flights a week, operating on Sundays, Tuesdays, and Fridays, while the Damascus–Abu Dhabi route will feature two weekly flights on Tuesdays and Fridays. SyrianAir has announced plans to expand these frequencies as demand continues to rise.
Beyond its commercial importance, this resumed air service holds deep emotional and cultural significance for many Syrian expatriates in the UAE. The direct flights offer a crucial link for families who have been separated for years, easing both travel logistics and emotional distances.
This relaunch is part of Syria’s broader efforts to revive its aviation sector and stimulate economic revitalization.
