Abu Dhabi – In a significant reform aimed at improving efficiency and reducing bureaucratic delays, the UAE Ministry of Justice (MoJ) has announced that travel bans will now be automatically lifted upon the resolution of legal cases. This new policy eliminates the previous requirement for individuals to manually request the removal of travel restrictions, streamlining the process substantially.
Historically, individuals facing travel bans in the UAE had to endure a lengthy process to lift the restrictions, involving the submission of clearance documents and additional paperwork, which could consume an entire working day. The introduction of this automated system marks a major improvement in the judicial and administrative workflow. According to a brief video released by the Ministry of Justice, the steps required to lift a travel ban have been reduced from nine to zero, enabling nearly instantaneous removal of restrictions once a case is resolved.
This reform is part of the UAE’s broader Zero Government Bureaucracy initiative, launched earlier this year, which seeks to streamline federal government services by eliminating unnecessary administrative hurdles. By automating the travel ban removal process, the Ministry of Justice is enhancing the efficiency, speed, and accessibility of government services for the public.
