The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has introduced new regulations aimed at improving transparency and passenger rights in the airline industry. Under the updated guidelines, airlines are required to clearly disclose ticket fares, flight details, and the services they offer, with a prohibition on adding undisclosed fees.
The regulations also mandate that airlines limit overbooking practices. In cases where flights are overbooked, airlines must manage the situation to minimize passenger inconvenience. Additionally, the Passenger Rights Protection Regulation stipulates that airlines must provide necessary care and support in the event of flight cancellations or delays.
Specifically, the new rules dictate that airlines must offer refreshments and beverages if a flight is delayed by two hours. If the delay extends beyond three hours, passengers should receive a meal. For delays exceeding six hours, the airline is required to provide hotel accommodation and transportation to and from the airport. The CAA emphasizes that these measures are designed to ensure a more seamless and supportive travel experience for passengers.
