Deer Valley Resort is poised for a transformative expansion that will significantly enhance its status as one of North America’s premier ski destinations. With the Winter Olympic Games returning to Salt Lake City in 2034, Deer Valley’s upcoming changes will be particularly noteworthy during the freestyle competitions.
The resort, long recognized for its luxury offerings and accessibility from Salt Lake City International Airport, is set to more than double its skiable terrain. Currently boasting 2,026 acres across six mountains, Deer Valley will expand to an impressive 5,726 acres by adding 3,700 acres and four new mountains. This expansion will feature 37 chairlifts servicing 238 ski runs, making it one of the largest ski resorts in the continent.
Scheduled to begin operations in December 2024, the first phase of the expansion will introduce over 300 new skiable acres and additional parking at the newly named Deer Valley East Village. This area, previously known as Mayflower Mountain Resort, will include a skier services facility, dining options, and luxury accommodations.
The full buildout is expected to roll out in stages through the 2025-26 winter season. This phase will see the opening of 2,900 acres with nine new lifts, including a gondola that will connect skiers from the East Village to Park Peak at an elevation of 9,350 feet. The terrain will cater to all skill levels, featuring wide-open bowls and glade areas.
Todd Bennett, President & COO of Deer Valley Resort, emphasized the commitment to enhancing guest experiences while maintaining the resort’s legacy of excellence. The expansion not only aims to improve accessibility but also seeks to alleviate traffic congestion in nearby Park City by introducing a new base village with ample parking and pedestrian-friendly features.
