Tourism Australia is set to enhance its outreach to Muslim travelers in Indonesia with the establishment of its inaugural travel agency alliance. This initiative aims to foster connections and develop tailored travel experiences for this expanding market.
The alliance is dedicated to offering travel packages and itineraries that showcase Australia’s diverse Muslim-friendly offerings. Currently, it comprises four Indonesian tourism partners: AntaVaya Umroh, As-Salam by Dwidaya Tour, Cheria Holiday, and Ramah Umroh & Halal Tour.
As part of the program, these agencies will provide a variety of itineraries throughout Australia, highlighting Muslim-friendly experiences tailored to different travel preferences and seasons, featuring both popular and lesser-known destinations.
Scheduled departures are set for February 19, April 2, April 23, and May 28, 2025, with fares starting at IDR 32,888, including flights operated by Qantas.
A Key Market Showing Strong Recovery
“Indonesia ranks among Australia’s top five recovering markets, demonstrating significant growth in visitor arrivals and spending since 2019,” stated Agitya Nuraini, Tourism Australia’s country manager for Indonesia.
In the last financial year, Australia welcomed 213,000 visitors from Indonesia, which represents approximately 96% of pre-pandemic numbers in 2019. These travelers contributed $1.1 billion to the Australian economy, reflecting a 26% increase compared to 2019.
Nuraini emphasized that Australia’s tourism sector is well-equipped to offer a wide range of exciting multicultural experiences, fully addressing the evolving needs of this demographic.
It’s noteworthy that Islam is the second largest religion in Australia, with halal-certified products readily available in major supermarkets. Cities like Melbourne, Brisbane, and Sydney boast vibrant Muslim communities and a plethora of halal dining options.

Travelers can enjoy a myriad of experiences, from stargazing in the Blue Mountains and interacting with alpacas in Port Stephens to riding the iconic Puffing Billy steam locomotive in Melbourne. Visitors can also explore Australia’s gold rush history at Sovereign Hill in Ballarat, take a scenic cruise around Sydney Harbour, or indulge in shopping at Chadstone Shopping Centre, the largest shopping center in Australia.
