In an ongoing investigation into alleged special privileges granted to Kannada actor Darshan while in custody, police in the Southeastern District have arrested a travel agency owner linked to the case.

Manivannan, the owner of a travel agency based in Banasawadi, is accused of supplying a SIM card and mobile phone to an inmate named Dharma, who was reportedly creating disturbances within the jail.

Darshan allegedly utilized the phone to make a WhatsApp call to Dharma’s family, an incident that subsequently gained widespread attention online. Following this, it is claimed that Dharma disposed of the phone and SIM card by flushing them down a toilet.

However, law enforcement was able to trace the SIM card number to Yadav, a driver employed by Manivannan. His confession led to the arrest of Manivannan and the identification of a second-hand mobile phone shop in Majestic, where the device was purchased.

Authorities have recorded a statement from the shop owner as part of their investigation and have filed a comprehensive report detailing the incident and the potential involvement of jail officials.
