As competition intensifies from hotels and airlines, online travel agencies (OTAs) in India are increasingly targeting the more profitable corporate travel segment. EaseMyTrip, a prominent Indian OTA, has introduced EMT Desk, an all-in-one platform designed to streamline corporate travel management. This new offering includes a dedicated travel manager for each corporate client, providing services such as planning, budget analysis, expense tracking, report generation, and travel policy management.
Additionally, EMT Desk offers exclusive benefits for employees, including discounts on flights, premium hotel accommodations, and a centralized booking system.
EaseMyTrip’s move comes as part of a broader strategy to expand its corporate travel division, which was launched last year. With EMT Desk, the company aims to strengthen its foothold in the rapidly growing corporate travel market.
Indian OTAs are making significant strides in the corporate travel space. Last month, MakeMyTrip acquired the expense management platform Happay from Indian fintech company CRED. This acquisition allows MakeMyTrip to expand its presence in the corporate travel market with its offerings, myBiz and Quest2Travel, both of which have shown strong growth in recent years.
Rajesh Magow, co-founder and Group CEO of MakeMyTrip, emphasized that the Happay acquisition aligns with the company’s strategy to lead the corporate travel segment.
Meanwhile, Yatra, another competitor, has also strengthened its corporate travel division by acquiring Globe Travels, a corporate services provider, in September. CEO Dhruv Shringi highlighted the company’s success in corporate travel, noting that it now accounts for 65% of Yatra’s hotel business.
India’s corporate travel spending is projected to reach $38 billion this year, with the Global Business Travel Association forecasting a full recovery to pre-2019 spending levels by 2025.
