Virgin Australia is set to handle its busiest summer season ever, with a significant expansion of its flight schedule and several initiatives aimed at improving the travel experience for passengers.
The airline will operate up to 3,000 flights each week across its domestic and short-haul international routes in December and January, offering nearly 500,000 seats every week. Popular destinations like the Gold Coast, Sunshine Coast, Cairns, Tasmania, and Bali will see more frequent flights to meet the demand from holidaymakers.
Virgin Australia recently saw record-breaking passenger numbers, carrying nearly 4 million guests in October and November. The airline also helped accommodate over 130,000 passengers who were rebooked after Rex suspended its jet operations.
Virgin Australia is introducing a new feature called Journey Tracker. This app provides real-time updates on flight statuses, including gate changes and delays, directly to passengers’ lock screens. The feature, available on both iOS and Android, will be available to travelers on Virgin Australia’s domestic flights starting at 12 pm AEDT.
