Friday, Dec. 20, is expected to be the busiest day of the holiday season at Dallas Fort Worth International Airport (DFW). Based on traffic trends from Thanksgiving weekend, travelers should be prepared for longer wait times at baggage counters and security checkpoints.
DFW Airport, the third-busiest in the world by passenger volume, sees approximately 79.9 million passengers annually. Despite its efficiency, a recent study by Palm Paradise Realty Group highlighted that DFW ranks No. 6 for the worst delays. The study, using data from the Federal Aviation Administration’s OPSNET portal, factored in average delay times, instances of delay, and delay percentages.
While heavy holiday traffic is unavoidable, travelers can take steps to make their experience smoother. The Star-Telegram has compiled essential tips and data to help you prepare for the busy holiday travel season at DFW.
