Lawrence County has been placed under a Travel Watch, joining Brown, Jackson, Monroe, and Washington Counties, which are also under the same advisory.
A Travel Watch means conditions are threatening public safety. During a “watch” advisory, only essential travel—such as commuting to and from work or in emergencies—is recommended. Local businesses, schools, government agencies, and other organizations should activate their emergency action plans.
Additionally, Orange County has been issued the highest level of local travel advisory: a Travel Warning. This means that travel may be restricted to emergency management workers only. During a “warning” advisory, individuals are instructed to:
Refrain from all travel;
Comply with necessary emergency measures;
Cooperate with public officials and disaster service teams in executing emergency operations plans;
Obey the lawful directions of properly identified officers.
