The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has granted senior lawyer and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Member of National Assembly (MNA) Latif Khan Khosa permission to travel abroad, removing his name from the Exit Control List (ECL).
The court’s decision came after a hearing presided over by Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani, in which Khosa challenged his inclusion on the ECL. Khosa argued that his name was added due to a case filed against him in connection with a protest outside the Supreme Court of Pakistan. The court questioned the necessity of restricting his travel, given the minor charges under Section 188 of the Pakistan Penal Code related to the protest.
Prosecutors admitted that no charge sheet had been filed in the case against Khosa. The court criticized the practice of placing individuals on the ECL without solid evidence, questioning whether others facing similar charges had also been subjected to travel restrictions. Khosa informed the court that the restriction had caused him to miss a flight on January 5 and that he now plans to travel to Canada.
The court granted conditional approval for his travel, directing Khosa to submit an affidavit to the trial court, assuring his appearance when required.
