Dense fog at Delhi International Airport on Friday morning led to significant disruptions, with over 100 flights delayed due to low visibility. Delhi International Airport Ltd (DIAL) confirmed that the delays were caused by the poor visibility, but flights equipped with CAT III technology—capable of operating in low visibility—were able to land and depart.
DIAL urged passengers to contact their airlines for updates on flight statuses and apologized for the inconvenience caused. IndiGo, one of the affected airlines, took to social media early Friday to advise passengers to check their flight status before heading to the airport. The airline also recommended allowing extra travel time, citing traffic delays caused by the fog.
“Due to dense fog, there has been an impact on flight departures, but flights with CAT III compliance are operating normally,” DIAL stated. IndiGo echoed these concerns, urging passengers to plan for extended travel times as the fog was also affecting traffic flow in the city.
