As the new year begins, airports in Regina and Saskatoon are embracing fresh opportunities, with optimism surrounding an exciting travel season ahead. Following a busy holiday season, experts are confident that growth will continue into 2025, marked by a new flight route from Regina to Denver.
James Bogusz, president and CEO of Regina Airport, highlighted the impressive travel numbers leading up to the Christmas season. “We were seeing upwards of 2,300 to 2,500 departing passengers per day, compared to our usual average of about 1,700,” Bogusz explained. “It was incredibly busy.” November saw a 105% increase in passenger numbers compared to 2019, signaling a full recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic.
The growth is set to continue with the introduction of a new daily flight from Regina to Denver, scheduled for May 2025. This new route is a collaborative effort between the provincial government, Regina Airport Authority, and United Airlines. The flight will be operated by SkyWest, marking an exciting step forward for the airport as it looks to expand its services.
