As 2025 unfolds, travelers are seeking more than just traditional beach vacations. Dubbed the year of ‘Holisti-Days’ and ‘Efficient Escapism,’ tourists are increasingly looking for activity-filled holidays that promote relaxation, mental health, and digital detoxes.
Although unwinding is still a priority, two-thirds of holidaymakers now expect more from their trips than just lounging. In fact, three-quarters of travelers already integrate fitness into their holidays, with activities like walking, running, and swimming topping the list. A new trend, ‘Sightseeing Striders,’ has even emerged, where 12% of travelers are combining competitive sports like marathons or 10k races with sightseeing.
Another growing trend, ‘Efficient Escapism,’ appeals to those with busy schedules who want to escape on short, action-packed getaways without sacrificing adventure.
A third of those surveyed believe staying active during vacations improves their mental health, while 29% say it helps reduce stress. As wellness-focused travel continues to rise, more than half of vacationers now consider maintaining health and fitness essential while away, with 37% even sticking to their regular gym routines.
