Severe Winter Storm Strands Drivers in Florida and Alabama Counties

The National Weather Service issued a warning on Tuesday night, highlighting the combination of life-threatening travel conditions and extreme cold temperatures, which are creating a hazardous situation.

Temperatures are expected to drop into the teens, with some areas reaching isolated single digits. Wind chills are expected to make it feel even colder, possibly dropping below zero in some regions.

All roadways in Escambia County, Florida; Escambia County, Alabama; and Santa Rosa County, Florida are now considered impassable and closed.

Many drivers have become stranded in their vehicles, particularly along Highway 29 south of Century.
