Edmonton International Airport (YEG) announced that 2024 marked a year of significant growth and continued recovery, with passenger traffic returning to nearly pre-pandemic levels. The airport recorded a total of 7.92 million passengers in 2024, reaching 97% of the passenger volumes seen before the COVID-19 pandemic in 2019. This represents a 5.6% increase over 2023.
In comparison, YEG welcomed 8.15 million passengers in 2019, the year before the global pandemic disrupted travel. The airport credits the recovery in passenger numbers to an increasing number of airlines choosing Edmonton as a destination, helping drive growth and boost overall traffic.
