As families across the United Kingdom prepare for the February half-term break, a significant surge in air travel is expected. According to aviation analytics firm Cirium, over 25,430 flights are scheduled to depart from UK airports during the period, offering more than 4.6 million available seats.
This surge highlights both the popularity of half-term getaways and the ongoing recovery of the aviation industry. For most schools in England and Wales, the half-term holiday will run from February 14th to February 23rd, 2025.
Cirium’s analysis reveals that Friday, February 21st, will be the busiest day, with 2,759 flights expected to depart from UK airports. This concentration of departures underscores the need for efficient airport operations and passenger management during peak travel periods.
Travelers are advised to arrive well in advance of their flights to avoid delays and manage potential airport congestion.
