Aviation Sector Exempted from Travel Ban, President Tinubu Announces

by Mary

Nigeria’s Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, announced that President Bola Tinubu has decided to halt the proposed merger of the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) and the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA). This decision follows a careful review of the recommendations from the Steve Oronsanye Report.

Keyamo also clarified that the aviation sector is exempt from the ban on international travel for federal government officials. He explained that this exemption reflects President Tinubu’s commitment to fostering growth and change in the sector.

Keyamo made this announcement during the 25th-anniversary celebration of the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority in Abuja on Saturday.

The original directive, issued in a memo last year, announced a temporary ban on all publicly funded international trips for federal government officials, starting from April 1, 2024, due to economic challenges and the need for responsible fiscal management.
