Lake effect snow, which began overnight from Lake Ontario, is expected to persist throughout the week. Areas east of Lake Ontario, especially in Central New York, could see up to 2.5 feet of snow.
Syracuse is forecasted to receive 8-12 inches, while Utica may see 12-18 inches. In some regions, snowfall rates could reach 1-3 inches per hour.
