Singapore Airlines and its low-cost subsidiary Scoot reported a rise in both passenger traffic and cargo in January 2025, compared to the same period last year, according to the group’s latest operating update released on February 17.
Passenger traffic increased by 8.6% year-on-year, surpassing the 5.5% capacity growth. This growth was fueled by strong travel demand, especially during the Chinese New Year holiday season, the airline group noted in its monthly update.
In total, the group’s passenger traffic for the month reached 13.7 billion revenue passenger kilometers (RPK), up from 12.6 billion RPK a year earlier. RPK is a key metric used to gauge airline performance, measuring the demand for services based on the number of paying passengers and the distance traveled.
