Traffic Stopped on US Highway 550 for Safety Winter Work on February 21

The Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) will conduct critical winter maintenance on US Highway 550 between Ouray and Ironton on Friday, February 21. Starting at 8 a.m., traffic will be halted in both directions between Mile Points 87 and 91. The closure is expected to last most of the morning, with no set time for reopening.

To ensure safety, parking will not be allowed within the work zone, including any access roads or pullouts along the highway. Backcountry users must move their vehicles and leave the area before 8 a.m.

Motorists are advised to plan ahead, allow extra travel time, or pass through the closure points before the scheduled closure begins.
