Sabah is positioning itself as a global hub for training nature interpretation guides, following recognition from the World Federation of Tourist Guide Associations (WFTGA).
This initiative is part of the state’s broader focus on culture, adventure, and nature-based tourism, reinforcing its role as a leader in sustainable ecotourism.
Datuk Joniston Bangkuai, the Assistant Minister of Tourism, Culture, and Environment, expressed his enthusiasm for the WFTGA’s recognition. He highlighted that Sabah’s rich biodiversity, stunning landscapes, and strong ecotourism appeal make it an ideal location for a specialized training center.
Bangkuai has asked the Sabah Tourist Guides Association (STGA) to pursue this opportunity further with the WFTGA.
