Travelers have been cautioned to stay informed about updates as Severe Tropical Cyclone Alfred is expected to make landfall along Australia’s coastline, potentially bringing intense weather conditions. This marks New South Wales’ first cyclone watch in over three decades.
Cyclone Alfred is projected to make landfall on Thursday night as a category two system. Meteorologists have advised that the southern flank of the cyclone will likely experience the worst impacts, which could affect areas like Brisbane, the Gold Coast, and Northern Rivers.
Bureau of Meteorology meteorologist Jonathon How stated, “The location of landfall will be critical because we are expecting to see the worst of the impacts, or most significant impacts, on the southern flank of the cyclone.”
As of Tuesday afternoon, affected regions like Brisbane, the Gold Coast, Ballina Byron Bay, and the Sunshine Coast are operating as usual, though local teams are closely monitoring the storm’s progression to ensure traveler safety and provide timely updates.
