Spring break travel is in full swing, with long lines, crowded parking lots, and overflowing baggage areas.

“We got dropped off, but I was surprised at how busy it is. I’ve never seen it like this before,” said Gerald Roque, a resident of Kapolei.

The TSA is anticipating a 5% increase in spring break travelers compared to last year. It advises travelers to arrive early to secure parking and allow extra time to get through security.

“There was no parking. It was so crowded. Be prepared for long lines. You might even be late to your flight,” said Madison Gapol, a spring break traveler.

Hotels in Hawaii are gearing up for the surge of visitors, especially with the rise in tourism from Japan.

“Multigenerational travel is definitely a trend we’re seeing, and it’s a great time for families to visit,” said Christine Judson, Director of Sales & Marketing at The Ritz-Carlton Oahu, Turtle Bay. “We’ve noticed an increase in visits from Japanese websites. We’ve even created a Japanese version of our website to cater to those travelers.”
