Travellers have been advised to delay non-essential travel to Johor this weekend as both the Woodlands and Tuas checkpoints are expected to face heavy traffic congestion.
Since the start of the March school holidays, both checkpoints have seen significantly high traffic volumes, according to the Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA) on Friday (March 21).
The situation has been worsened by continuous rain over the past two days, caused by a monsoon surge in Singapore, which has contributed to the traffic build-up.
Car travellers and motorcyclists departing Singapore have had to endure waits of over two hours for immigration clearance.
In light of these delays, ICA has urged travellers to defer non-essential trips. Additionally, the authority has warned motorists about reduced visibility due to the rain and stressed the importance of avoiding queue-cutting, as road accidents have been reported in the last two days.
For those who decide to proceed with their journey, ICA advises checking traffic conditions in advance and being prepared for possible delays.
