With Easter holidays just around the corner, ABTA – The Travel Association is reminding travelers heading to Europe to ensure their passports are valid.
This advice follows ongoing issues where some British passport holders are still being caught out by changes to passport rules that have been in effect for over four years.
ABTA warns that travelers whose passports are not valid will be denied entry, leading to missed holidays and financial loss. Despite the rules being in place for several years, there have been instances of passengers being turned away at the airport for not meeting the requirements.
British passport holders planning to visit the Schengen area—which includes most EU countries (excluding Ireland), along with Switzerland, Norway, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Andorra, Monaco, San Marino, and Vatican City—must ensure their passport meets two key validity requirements, which are independent of each other.
