To improve public transportation in Chennai, State Transport Minister S.C. Sivasankar launched the Singara Chennai travel card at the Secretariat on Wednesday.
The initiative, a collaboration between Airtel Payments Bank and the Metropolitan Transport Corporation (MTC), aims to make commuting easier and cashless. The new travel card allows passengers to pay for bus fares digitally, eliminating the need for cash transactions.
Electronic Ticketing Machines installed on all MTC buses will support the use of the card. To encourage widespread adoption, Airtel Payments Bank will offer the Singara Chennai travel card for ₹100 at major bus terminals and high-traffic stops across the city.
