On Sunday, 30 March, Qantas launched its inaugural direct service between Darwin and Singapore, offering over 70,000 additional seats annually on the route.
This new flight route provides residents of the Northern Territory with the quickest connection to Asia and Europe, including a seamless one-stop journey to London.
The service operates four times a week on Qantas’ Boeing 737-800 aircraft. Flights are timed to align with the airline’s flagship A380 services from Singapore to London, as well as offering further connections to other European and Asian destinations through partner airlines.
Departure times from Darwin are set for Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays at 2:55 PM, arriving in Singapore by 6:15 PM. The return flight departs Singapore at 7:20 PM, landing in Darwin at 1:40 AM the next day. The flight duration is just under five hours.
Cam Wallace, Qantas CEO International, expressed excitement about the new expansion, stating, “We’re thrilled to provide Territorians with another direct global connection. This new route offers a faster, smoother travel experience to both Asia and Europe.”
He added that the additional flights will benefit both locals and tourists, strengthening trade and business ties between Australia and Singapore, while positioning Darwin as a key stop for international visitors exploring Australia.
