The Korea Travel Expo kicked off in Seoul on Thursday, featuring traditional Korean mask performers from Hahoe Village in Andong, North Gyeongsang Province, at the city’s booth. The event comes at a pivotal time, as wildfires ravage the southeast region and domestic tourism continues to struggle.
This year’s expo, which marks its 22nd edition, operates under the theme “PLAY Travel, REPLAY Region,” aiming to reignite enthusiasm for domestic travel—especially in regions like Andong, which is facing the devastating effects of the ongoing wildfires.
Co-hosted by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korea Tourism Association, the event features about 260 booths from 120 government bodies and tourism companies. The goal is to highlight the unique experiences and attractions across various regions, showcasing the nation’s resilience in the face of adversity.
