Saudi Arabia Suspends Travel Visas for 14 Countries

by Mary

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has imposed a ban on issuing travel visas to citizens from 14 countries, including Pakistan, India, and Bangladesh. This move is part of the country’s ongoing efforts to manage and regulate the flow of travelers, particularly in light of previous incidents during large-scale events like Hajj.

However, the ban does not affect Hajj pilgrims from India. Travelers from India who hold valid Hajj visas or plan to obtain them will still be allowed entry to Mecca and Medina to participate in the annual pilgrimage. This exemption is in place to ensure that Hajj continues smoothly for those who have been properly registered.

The restrictions aim to prevent unauthorized individuals from attempting to perform Hajj without following the official registration process. The move comes after last year’s tragedy during the pilgrimage, which led to overcrowding concerns. The Kingdom is implementing these measures to ensure the safety and proper organization of the event.
