Laos has been named the world’s most affordable travel destination for 2025.
The average traveler to Laos spends just £12.30 per day (including accommodation, food and transport). Compared to other popular Southeast Asian destinations such as Thailand and Indonesia, Laos is a more affordable option.
Kazakhstan and Rwanda come in second and third, with average daily travel costs of £15.10 and £16.60 respectively.
Not only is Laos affordable, it also offers a wealth of cultural and natural attractions. Luang Prabang, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is known for its serene temples and French colonial-style architecture. The capital, Vientiane, is home to the iconic That Luang pagoda, a revered national symbol and a major tourist attraction.
Visitors can also take a cruise on the Mekong River, explore waterfalls and limestone caves, and visit the country’s scenic coffee plantations – making Laos an enticing destination that offers high value at a low cost.
