CALGARY, 30 July 2024 – WestJet and Air North have announced a new interline agreement designed to simplify travel between their respective networks, starting July 31. This agreement allows passengers to book a single ticket for itineraries that include connections between WestJet’s routes and Air North’s services to the Yukon and Northwest Territories.

Under the new agreement, travelers will benefit from a streamlined check-in process and direct delivery of checked luggage to their final destination. This initiative aims to enhance travel efficiency and convenience for passengers making connections between the two airlines.

Jared Mikoch-Gerke, Director of Alliances and Airport Affairs at WestJet, highlighted that the agreement will “redefine” travel to the Yukon and Northwest Territories. He emphasized that the partnership is expected to open new avenues for tourism and business travel while improving access for remote communities to essential services such as education, medical care, and cargo transport.

Yukon Premier Ranj Pillai welcomed the announcement, expressing enthusiasm for the agreement. “We are thrilled to support this new partnership,” Pillai said. “It represents a significant step toward improving connectivity and convenience for travelers across the Yukon and beyond.”

The new interline agreement is poised to enhance travel experiences and foster greater connectivity between the airlines’ networks.
