As race weekend kicks off in Talladega, Anniston Regional Airport is experiencing a major increase in air travel, with over 70% of the race-related flights passing through its terminals. According to a post from The City of Anniston, more than 2,000 people have already arrived in the community for the event.
This surge in traffic comes at a time when Anniston Regional Airport is operating at a high capacity, benefiting from its recent FAA certification and recognition by the State of Alabama. The airport’s strategic location—just 80 miles north of Montgomery, 55 miles east of Birmingham, and 80 miles west of Atlanta—makes it a key entry point for travelers looking to attend events in Talladega and other nearby destinations.
The airport’s prime location near Interstate 20 and several key highways, including Highways 431, 21, and 78, ensures it is easily accessible for travelers from across the region, making it an attractive option for those attending the highly anticipated race weekend.
