Travel Trade Association Appeals to European Commission for Greater Focus on Tourism

The European Travel Agents’ and Tour Operators’ Association (ECTAA) has called on the new European Commission to acknowledge the substantial economic impact of tourism and to elevate its importance in policy decisions.

In a manifesto released last month, ECTAA highlighted the critical role of travel advisors in the industry. The association emphasized that travel advisors provide significant value to both leisure and business travelers by offering extensive choices and transparency, and are often perceived as a comprehensive solution for travel arrangements.

Additionally, ECTAA pointed out that travel advisors are well-positioned to influence more sustainable tourism practices by incorporating sustainability considerations into their selection of suppliers. The association urged policymakers to recognize these contributions and prioritize tourism in their future strategies.
