U.S. Advises Against Travel to Bangladesh Amid Political Turmoil

by Mary

The United States on Tuesday issued a strong advisory urging its citizens to avoid traveling to Bangladesh due to escalating civil unrest, crime, and terrorism in the wake of former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s resignation and flight from the country.

The U.S. State Department elevated its travel advisory to ‘Level 4: Do Not Travel,’ the highest warning level, and recommended the immediate departure of non-emergency U.S. government personnel and their families from Bangladesh.

Violence has surged across the nation, resulting in over 100 fatalities since Hasina’s abrupt resignation and departure on Monday. Despite earlier signs suggesting a possible return to stability, the situation remains volatile and dangerous.
