Taipei, August 11, 2024 — The “Amazing Thailand Travel Fair 2024” has captivated audiences in Taipei with a vibrant display of Thai culture and tourism. Held from August 10-11, the two-day event highlighted Thailand’s attractions and celebrated the newly introduced visa exemption for Taiwanese tourists.

Mr. Nithee Seeprae, Deputy Governor for Marketing Communications at the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), emphasized the fair’s significance. “The Amazing Thailand Travel Fair not only celebrates the recent visa exemption but also aims to strengthen the bond between Thailand and Taiwan,” Seeprae stated. “We hope this event will encourage Taiwanese travelers to explore Thailand’s beautiful landscapes, diverse cuisine, lively festivals, and renowned hospitality.”

Organized by TAT in collaboration with several key partners—including the Thailand Trade and Economic Office in Taipei, the Department of Information and Tourism of Taipei City Government, National Chengchi University, the Thai Trade Office in Taipei, and Taiwanese tour operators and airlines—the fair was designed to reflect the enchanting atmosphere of Thailand’s Loi Krathong Festival.

The fair featured the “Amazing Thailand: Your Stories Never End” campaign, which spotlighted Thailand’s cultural richness through a series of engaging activities. Highlights included traditional Thai dances, Muay Thai demonstrations, a solo performance by YouTuber ‘Fino the Ranad’ on the Thai xylophone, drag performances by Natalia Pliacam, winner of Drag Race Thailand Season I, and cooking demonstrations of Southern Thai milk tea (Cha Chuck) and Northeastern Thai (Isan) dishes.

Additional attractions included appearances by Thai BoyLove/GirlLove artists, a workshop on making biodegradable krathong, and opportunities for visitors to dress in traditional Thai attire for photos and participate in a lucky draw.

The event featured 30 booths from Thai tourism businesses, including restaurants, travel agencies, and airlines, offering exclusive travel packages, special deals, and airfares. Emphasizing sustainability, the fair used biodegradable food and drink containers and adhered to effective waste management practices in alignment with TAT’s commitment to high-value and sustainable tourism.

TAT aims to attract 768,000 Taiwanese tourists to Thailand this year. As of July 2024, Thailand has already welcomed 630,332 visitors from Taiwan, marking a 64% increase compared to the same period in 2023.
