AmaWaterways has unveiled a new Stateroom Upgrade Program, allowing guests to elevate their river cruise experience by bidding for an upgrade to a higher-category stateroom. This innovative program offers travelers the chance to enhance their journey by securing more luxurious accommodations through an online auction system.
The program is available to U.S. guests who have already booked a river cruise with AmaWaterways on select sailings in Europe, Egypt, and the Mekong. Following a successful soft launch on the AmaMagna, the program has now been rolled out across all ships in these regions.
Approximately 85 days before their scheduled departure, eligible guests will receive an email outlining the available upgrade options. They can then explore these options and place bids for the amount they are willing to pay for an upgrade. The bidding window remains open until seven days before the cruise departure. Guests have the flexibility to place multiple bids on different categories, increasing their chances of securing an upgrade. However, only one accepted bid will be charged.
A key feature of the Stateroom Upgrade Program is its no-risk bidding process. If a guest’s bid is accepted, both the guest and their travel advisor are notified via email, and the upgrade cost is charged. If the bid is not accepted, the guest retains their original stateroom at no additional charge.
This program not only enhances the guest experience by offering the possibility of upgraded accommodations but also provides travel advisors with an opportunity to earn additional commissions. Travel advisors receive a 10 percent commission on any accepted upgrades, further benefiting from the program’s success.
AmaWaterways’ new initiative adds a layer of excitement to the booking process, allowing guests to potentially enjoy a more luxurious experience on their river cruise.
