KakaoPay Insurance, a South Korean digital non-life insurance provider, has reached a significant milestone by securing 1.5 million enrollments for its international travel insurance within just a year of its debut. This impressive growth reflects a robust average monthly increase of 30.7%.
Launched in 2022, KakaoPay Insurance offers a range of coverage options, including financial safety insurance, mobile phone insurance, driver insurance, and infant insurance. The company has achieved remarkable success by leveraging its integration with KakaoTalk, a widely used South Korean messaging app boasting over 41 million users.
The seamless integration with KakaoTalk has enabled KakaoPay Insurance to digitize the entire insurance process, from enrollment to claims management. This digital approach has not only streamlined operations but also facilitated cost savings, which the company has passed on to its customers.
The efficiency of the claims process is further enhanced through the use of AI-based optical character recognition (OCR) technology. Policyholders can submit claims by uploading their documents via KakaoTalk, with processing times reduced to as little as one minute for complete paperwork and just three seconds for simpler claims.
