Air Canada is on the brink of operational disruptions as a potential pilot strike looms, which could affect tens of thousands of passengers. The situation is rapidly evolving, with a possible strike starting as soon as this weekend.
The airline’s pilots, represented by the Air Line Pilots Association (ALPA), are currently in negotiations with Air Canada regarding wage increases. The pilots are advocating for compensation that matches the earnings of their U.S. counterparts.
In anticipation of the strike, Air Canada is preparing contingency plans to mitigate the impact on travelers. Frederic Dimanche, a professor at Toronto Metropolitan University and director of the School of Hospitality and Tourism Management, emphasized that the airline’s primary focus is to minimize disruptions for passengers during this challenging period.
