In its latest update, Agoda has identified the top five visa-free travel destinations for Indian tourists in 2024, determined by accommodation booking trends. The leading destinations are Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia, Sri Lanka, and Nepal.
Thailand continues to dominate as the most popular destination, showing a marked increase in accommodation searches since the introduction of a visa waiver for Indian visitors in November 2023. Malaysia has also experienced a surge in popularity, climbing from eighth place in 2023 to fourth this year, following its own visa waiver implemented in December 2023.
Omri Morgenshtern, CEO of Agoda, highlighted the significance of relaxed visa policies, noting, “The removal of visa restrictions has a profound impact on inbound tourism, a trend we observe globally.”
Krishna Rathi, Senior Country Director for India at Agoda, added, “The growing interest among Indian travellers in visa-free destinations highlights the value of convenient travel options. Indian tourists are increasingly attracted to destinations that provide ease of access and a diverse range of experiences without the burden of lengthy visa processes.”
