Travelers between Taiwan and Japan can now benefit from a new travel pass, which offers discounts of up to 7 percent on public transit in both countries. Announced by Taoyuan Metro Corp yesterday, the Taiwan-Japan Travel Pass is a collaborative effort between Taoyuan Metro, Taipei MRT, and Japan’s Keisei Electric Railway.

Taoyuan Metro, which operates the Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport MRT Line, and Keisei Electric Railway, known for its express services connecting Tokyo’s Narita Airport with Keisei Ueno and Nippori stations, have joined forces to create this pass. The pass also includes travel between Narita and Haneda airports.

The basic package includes a one-way ticket on the Taoyuan MRT Line and a Skyliner ticket on the Keisei Electric Railway for ¥2,780 (US$19.53). Travelers to Japan can purchase this basic package in Taiwan and opt to add a one-day, two-day, or three-day subway pass for Tokyo, bringing the total cost to between ¥3,580 and ¥4,280.

For those traveling to Taiwan from Japan, an alternative package is available. It includes a one-way Skyliner ticket, a 72-hour Taipei MRT pass, and round-trip tickets on the Taoyuan International Airport MRT Line, priced at ¥4,830.

All packages are priced in yen and can be purchased through online travel platforms in both Taiwan and Japan. After completing their purchase, customers will receive a QR code, which can be exchanged for physical tickets at designated counters at Keisei Electric Railway and Taoyuan MRT stations.
