Hong Kong Tour Guide Struck Off for Coercing Mainland Chinese Tourists

The Travel Industry Authority of Hong Kong has revoked the license of tour guide Lam Chun-fai following an investigation into serious complaints about his conduct. The authority deemed Lam’s actions “absolutely unacceptable” after receiving reports from a mainland Chinese tour group in February.

The group alleged that Lam had threatened them to force their participation in shopping activities, a practice that has tarnished the sector’s reputation. As a result of these findings, Lam Chun-fai has been permanently removed from the register of licensed tour guides.
