Traveling abroad has become increasingly expensive for Australian tourists due to the introduction of new taxes and higher visa fees. Those planning international trips should be aware of these additional costs and review the latest fee structures to avoid unexpected expenses.
Australians traveling to some of Europe’s most popular tourist spots will soon need to apply for a new visa. The European Travel Information and Authorisation System (ETIAS), akin to the U.S. ESTA visa waiver program, will soon be required.
The ETIAS is set to affect travelers from 60 countries, including Australia, who previously did not need visas for short stays in Europe. Beginning soon, this travel authorization will be mandatory for visits to 30 specific European nations.
