Zimbabwe has recently hosted a group of Indian travel agents, offering them an immersive experience of the country’s breathtaking landscapes and luxurious hospitality in anticipation of the upcoming Sanganai/Hlanganani Expo.
The tour featured several highlights, including visits to iconic landmarks such as Victoria Falls, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and an array of thrilling activities including helicopter rides, bungee jumping, and game drives in Zambezi National Park. These experiences showcased Zimbabwe’s diverse tourism offerings, from its dramatic natural scenery to its rich cultural heritage.
Participants journeyed through Zimbabwe’s renowned destinations, including the Eastern Highlands, Lake Kariba, and the ancient Great Zimbabwe ruins. These excursions allowed agents to appreciate the country’s striking natural beauty, abundant wildlife, and high-end accommodations.
The tour’s highlight was a visit to Victoria Falls, celebrated as one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World. Agents were awestruck by the sheer grandeur of the falls. Activities such as a sunset cruise on the Zambezi River, the Boma cultural experience, and the exhilarating helicopter rides and bungee jumps added excitement and adventure to their visit. Wildlife enthusiasts had the opportunity to embark on game drives in Zambezi National Park and walking safaris in Mana Pools, offering up-close encounters with Africa’s iconic wildlife.
In addition to natural attractions, the tour included cultural experiences like the Simunye Theatrical performance and the Vulture Experience, reflecting Zimbabwe’s dedication to preserving its rich heritage and wildlife. Agents also explored several luxury lodges and hotels, highlighting the country’s top-tier accommodations and world-class hospitality.
Stella Nkomo, Ambassador of the Republic of Zimbabwe in New Delhi, expressed enthusiasm about the visit, stating, “We are thrilled to have hosted the Indian travel trade in Zimbabwe. With Victoria Falls, alongside Namibia and South Africa, set to co-host the 2027 Cricket World Cup, we eagerly anticipate welcoming Indian travelers to explore our country’s diverse wonders beyond the cricket pitch.”
Pranav Kapadia, Founder & Director of Global Destinations, praised the tour’s impact, noting that Zimbabwe’s unique beauty and rich experiences are sure to attract Indian tourists. He emphasized that the visit would strengthen the relationship between the Indian and Zimbabwean travel industries, with agents returning to India motivated to promote Zimbabwe as a premier destination.
Zimbabwe’s dedication to attracting Indian travelers is further demonstrated by its visa-on-arrival policy and efforts to position India as one of its top five source markets within the next three years. The presence of one of Zimbabwe’s 11 Tourism Attachés based in India underscores the country’s commitment to strengthening tourism ties with the Indian market.
