MMRDA Unveils ₹58,000 Crore Plan to Reduce Travel Time Across Mumbai

by Mary

The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) has announced an ambitious ₹58,000 crore initiative designed to alleviate traffic congestion and reduce travel times across the city to under one hour. This comprehensive plan includes the construction of a network of ring roads, bridges, and tunnels spanning over 90 kilometers.

The project aims to encircle Mumbai, enhancing connectivity to suburban areas while providing easier access to the Gujarat border in the north, Konkan Maharashtra in the south, and western Maharashtra. As Mumbai continues to grapple with severe traffic issues, this new infrastructure plan seeks to reroute heavy traffic away from the city’s core, facilitating faster and more efficient travel for residents.

The MMRDA’s proposal marks a significant step in ongoing efforts to improve the city’s transportation infrastructure, which has seen considerable development in recent years. The plan is expected to transform commuting in Mumbai over the next five years.
